KEY POINTS
- Mackintosh was a student at the Art School, which presumably played a big part in his approach in designing the new school as he would understand the establishment and how it would be used.
- He worked in contrasts, as shown in his use of light in the building, i.e.You enter into a dark oppressed hallway and are drawn up the central staircase into the the light flooded Gallery space. In this way he manipulates the visitors pathway through the building. N.B The people are acting like the flower heads, which follow the sun lights path throughout the day in order to survive.
